The Auckland Centre for Buddhist learning

The Auckland Centre for Buddhist learning (The temple) started at No. 23 ,Waipuna road,Mt .Wellington,Auckland in 2006 under the leadership of Venerable Alle Chandrawimala Thero.Due to increased number of devotees The Temple moved to permanent location by purchasing a own property in the same area on December 2008.

The main missions of ACBL is to maintain a pleasant environment to carry out all Buddhist activities, specially the teaching and the practicing of Thravada Buddhism.

Instruction on Buddhism and spiritual guidance are given to all Buddhist devotees as well as non -Buddhists, who wish to broaden their knowledge in Buddhism.

Another important service of the ACBL is Dhamma School which is conducted by volunteer devotees under the guidance of Viharadhipathi Venerable Dunuwila Metthiya Thero. Classes are scheduled to be held on every sunday from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

In the spirit of Buddhist tradition, Dhamma School services are offered free of charge to anybody who is committed to learn the Buddha teachings and Buddhist way of living.

Temple Activities

  • Daily Buddha Pooja at 7.30 pm. conducted by resident monks.
  • Every Saturday ,teachings of Abhidharma one hour programme from 4.00 to 5.00 pm and meditation programme from 5.00 to 7.00 pm followed by 7.30 pm daily Buddha Pooja.
  • Monthly Sil Programme on nearest Saturday to Full Moon Poyaday.Startat 8.00 am.
  • Monthly meditation programme on every last Sunday of the month from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.
  • Other temple services
    • The resident monks visit to the homes for blessing, hospitals to provide spiritual services to the elderly or infirm on invitation by Buddhist devotees.
    • Services include counseling, sutra recitation, chanting pirith etc.
    • Officiate in funerals of Buddhist devotees
